The canoe center by the Hårkan river

We have most or our guests canoeing along the waters of the Hårkan river – from it´s beginning in Norway through lakes and along some white waters all the way down to Lit ( outside Östersund). A total stretch of 150 km, basically all through nature not exploited at all to some small communities along the river. You will most likely see more elks than cars, and Mother Nature provides a varying picture around each bend in the river. We also sell fisching licens on the stretch Valsjöbyn to Lit. If you like you Can also paddel the river Storån, it is a smaller river that is avalibale for canoetrips to approximate the 15th of june.

Communications
Between Valsjöbyn/Föllinge there are buses to Östersund Daily. We will transport you to the point that you want to start you canoetrip on. We arrange all the transports of the canoes and equitment.

Shopping
In norway you have supermarkets in most of the villages along the river. In Sweden you can shop in Valsjöbyn, Rötviken, Föllinge and Lit.

Maps
The map ”Gröna kartan, skala 1:50 000 delarna 203 D Hotagen och 203 B Föllinge” covers most of the river Hårkan. To the south part of Hårkan we recommend ” Gröna kartan del 193 D”.

Season
The season encompasses all spring and summer from the middle of May until the middle of September.
From the end of May until the middle of June, the melting snow from the mountains provides real high (and fast) water. The Hårkan carries high enough water for paddling all summer. The Storån River is a real adventure during the spring high- water season, later on from July there may be stretched where you will have to carry the canoe on your trailer.

Fishing license
Is required, but inexpensive. We can sell you one license for the entire stretch in Sweden from Valsjöbyn to Lit.
